Goals

The goals of this project are;

  1. To reduce the number of new infections towards elimination of HIV transmission by 2030
  2. To reduce HIV-related morbidity and mortality

Approach

The approach is to collaborate with sex workers to scale peer-led HIV prevention packages such as condom and lubricant promotion and use, increase access to and support for HIV testing, treatment adherence support, and strengthen referral and linkages to sex workers’ HIV/SRHR services, as well as advocate for their human rights through community leader sensitization.

The main activities under this project include government led outreach through daylight and moonlight services which will deliver the STI testing, risk assessments and counselling, HIV testing and PrEP and commodity distribution, FP services and CCSPT.

This project works through peer educators and navigators to create demand for the services at hotspots, clusters and safe spaces. Peer Navigators link clients to care and support adherence to ART. Peer Educators link clients to care and support with maintaining negative status.

We also work through the Key Population Community Based Organisations, and a large part of this project is engaging with them. CEDEP is the other sub-recipient which is focusing on Men having sex with Men (MSM), Transgender (TG) and People using Injected drugs (PUID).   Female Sex workers Association (FSWA) CHERA are the key CSOs we partner with.
